Some people want to correct the spaces between their teeth so they can have a beautiful smile. Others want to fix their severely misaligned teeth and jaw (malocclusion) that can cause problems with chewing, snoring and other breathing problems. In either case, both will turn to their Orthodontic dentist for help.

Correction methods might include Invisalign or wire braces, retainers to realign the teeth and guide incoming teeth, or other special devices like bite planes and night guards to help with teeth grinding and TMJ.

Here at the Serenity Dental Palo Alto, our Orthodontic specialists will evaluate your teeth and bite and make a recommendation as to which treatment option will be right for you. Treatment time typically ranges from one to three years, depending on the growth of the patient's mouth and face and the severity of the problem.

Teeth can be moved at any age which makes orthodontic procedures beneficial for children and adults alike. However, crooked teeth or bite problems are more easily corrected earlier rather than later, so we recommend that children around the age of 7-10 be examined by an orthodontist to determine whether treatment may be needed.
