Tooth Colored Fillings

Tooth-colored or composite fillings are made from durable plastics called composite resins. These fillings are less noticeable and much more attractive than silver amalgam fillings and are similar in color and texture to natural teeth. The composite filling material is extremely durable and will give you a beautiful smile lasting for many years.

Since composite fillings are a resin based tooth colored material, Dr. Heidari can closely match it to the existing tooth color, and are best suited for use on teeth that are in the more visible areas of the mouth.

Like amalgam fillings, a composite tooth colored filling is used to repair a tooth affected by decay or damage. The damaged part of the tooth will be prepared using the same process as for an amalgam filling. The space will be cleaned and prepared prior to the composite filling being placed. If there is any pain in the tooth, a medication will be used to eliminate the discomfort, then the filling will be placed, shaped, and polished to restore your tooth to its original shape.

A composite filling will last longer with good oral hygiene, so brushing, flossing, and regular visits to the dental hygienist are a must!
